Get inspired

The Mind Lab is spearheading the importance of educating teachers on how to teach technology in the classroom. We have rolled out across the Mind Labs across the nation, the movement is truly innovative and pioneering learning centres at the heart of our cities.

The design needed to reflect what the Mind Lab is, a learning hub for both children and adults to be inspired, work together and to feed off each other for ideas. There needed to be plenty of collaborative and inspirational spaces to encourage learning. Nothing like this has been developed in New Zealand before, so the Spaceworks design team was tasked with thinking outside of the square, bringing Frances Valintine’s (Owner and Founder) vision to life.

What makes the Mind Lab a unique learning destination is that the concept goes against traditional learning centre design; being that it has full transparency for both students and teachers so they can be taught in exactly the same way. Both children and adults are being taught at the same centre and instead of hiding everyone away behind closed doors there needed to be glass between the classrooms to give that transparent feel. Also at Mind Lab the hero is the technology so this needed to be showcased and the design needed to let it shine.

Our philosophy at Spaceworks is to ensure functionality goes hand in hand with design aesthetics and we believe the Mind Lab has achieved this in spades.
